Hi all! Guess what? I’ve got another exciting giveaway for you starting today! This time, the prize is – as you can tell from the title – six organic, gluten-free, raw vegan energy bars by Juti Organics.
Juti bars got on my map recently after I was contacted by a representative of O2X Summit Challenges – a mountain running race series taking place in Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire and New York. O2X series focuses on setting up uphill race courses with only naturally occurring obstacles – no artificial ice-filled pools or burning fences, just the beauty of nature and lung-burning altitude ascents. O2X Challenge has partnered with Juti Organics to promote the idea of fueling with all-natural food that’s also gentle on the environment.
The word ‘Juti’ means ‘energy’ in Sanskrit. The idea of creating Juti bars came to Matt Zembruski a few years ago after he tried his mom’s homemade energy bars before heading out for a busy morning, and noticed that he had sustained energy and no feeling of hunger until lunchtime (you can read the full story here). Matt went on to experiment with his mom’s recipe, and eventually came up with the current version of Juti bars – it doesn’t hurt that he chose Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk as the main flavor!
These days, Juti bars are made under Matt’s supervision with lots of love and care in Vermont. The recipe contains only organic, non-GMO, RAW whole food ingredients like gluten-free rolled oats, almond butter, chia seeds, Rainforest Alliance certified cacao in chocolate chips, etc. At this time, Juti doesn’t add any preservatives to their bars. Since each batch of Juti bars is handmade and fresh baked, they tend to be a little pricier than your average store-bought energy bars, but the fresh, organic ingredients and the handmade process are well worth the extra price. Right now Juti bars are sold online on their site over here (I do not receive any commissions if you buy something through this link), but the company is talking to Whole Foods to possibly bring their products all over the country.
I received a package of Juti bars the other day, and immediately got very excited to sample them. I brought one to work the following day to have it as a midmorning snack along with a cup of coffee. The very first thought I had after taking a bite: Wow, these are definitely NOT for people who are used to energy bars tasting like candy! The sweetness is more subtle than the in-your-face sweetness of store-bought energy bars, plus the chocolate is slightly more bitter than the conventional chocolate chips since it’s less processed. I’m a big fan of dark chocolate, so this last detail didn’t bother me at all, but I think it’s important to know what to expect when trying these bars.
I was pleasantly surprised that the bar I ate kept me full until lunchtime – I tend to get hungry quickly after my usual morning snacks at work (and yes, I eat breakfast in the morning), so it was nice not to be distracted by hunger during work.
Note: since Juti bars are fresh baked without any preservatives, they don’t have a long shelf life. The makers of Juti bars suggest that you either eat them at once when you receive them, or put them in the freezer. A lot of their customers say that they enjoy the flavor of these bars even more when they are taken straight out of the freezer and defrosted for about 20 min.
Juti Organics has agreed to mail six freshly made Juti Bars to the winner of today’s giveaway on my blog. You must be over 18 and RESIDE IN THE US to enter the giveaway. To enter, pick the options that apply to you in the giveaway box below – or click on the link if the box doesn’t show up.
An important update: This giveaway is only open to the US residents. I was informed by Juti Organics that at the moment, they don’t ship their products to Canada, as getting stuck in customs may take too long for these raw food bars. I apologize to those Canadian folks who have already entered!
The giveaway will last until Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at 11:59 pm Pacific time. I’ll announce the winner here on the blog and on social media within 48 hours.
Disclaimer: I do not receive any compensation for running this giveaway on my blog. Juti Organics sent me their bars for a review, all opinions expressed in this post are my own.
Another Disclaimer (the more, the merrier!): Juti organics is responsible for mailing the prize to the winner of this giveaway in a timely fashion. This means that I, Alina Zavatsky, will provide Juti Organics with the mailing info of the winner once I receive it, and then keep nudging them until the prize is sent on its way.
