New Review and Giveaway: Journey Bars – Nutrition Bars that are Savory! Plus and Easy Butternut Squash Soup Recipe.

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by a representative of Journey Bar, and asked if I would be interested in checking out these savory nutrition bars and possibly creating an everyday recipe with one of them. ‘A SAVORY nutrition bar?’, I thought, ‘That sounds interesting!’ So I decided to give them a try, and today I’m hosting a giveaway to give you a chance to try them out too! Let’s face it: there are tons of nutrition/energy bars out there on the market, but the absolute majority of them are sweet, so much that sometimes they are nothing more than candy bars disguised as a good-for-you snack. As I found out, the creators of Journey Bars – avid world travelers and backpackers – became concerned with this issue, and set out to develop a savory snack bar that would not only be low on sugar, but also deliver nutrition from real food … Read the rest of the post

New Giveaway: Enter to Win 6 Organic, Gluten-Free, Raw Vegan Energy Bars by Juti Organics

Hi all! Guess what? I’ve got another exciting giveaway for you starting today! This time, the prize is – as you can tell from the title – six organic, gluten-free, raw vegan energy bars by Juti Organics. Juti bars got on my map recently after I was contacted by a representative of O2X Summit Challenges – a mountain running race series taking place in Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire and New York. O2X series focuses on setting up uphill race courses with only naturally occurring obstacles – no artificial ice-filled pools or burning fences, just the beauty of nature and lung-burning altitude ascents. O2X Challenge has partnered with Juti Organics to promote the idea of fueling with all-natural food that’s also gentle on the environment. The word ‘Juti’ means ‘energy’ in Sanskrit. The idea of creating Juti bars came to Matt Zembruski a few years ago after he tried his mom’s … Read the rest of the post

New Giveaway! Win 2 Packages of Neat – a Healthy Meat Replacement in Original and Mexican Flavors

Hi everyone! Guess what: it’s time for another giveaway here on Vegan Runner Eats blog! I feel extremely blessed for the opportunity to bring so many exciting giveaways to the readers of my blog in the past months, and let you know about great products made by small, family-owned businesses all over the country. Here’s what I’ve got for you today: A few weeks ago I was contacted by a representative of a small, family-owned company that makes a meat replacement product called Neat. She offered me to sample some of their products and tell the world about my experience. At first, I wasn’t very thrilled as I’m not usually big on processed meat replacers, but after looking at the company’s website, I found out that Neat is made from all-natural ingredients like pecans, garbanzo beans, gluten-free oats, cornmeal, garlic, onion and spices, without any unpronounceable weird stuff at all. … Read the rest of the post

New Giveaway: Three Jars of Organic Almond and Pumpkin Seed Butter from Naturally Nutty

Hi everyone! I’ve got something pretty awesome for you today – a giveaway of delicious organic almond and pumpkin seed butter by Naturally Nutty in not one, not two, but THREE amazing flavors! A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Katie, the founder of Naturally Nutty – a small family-owned and operated company based in Traverse City, Michigan. Katie, a vegan runner and a mom of three, decided to start making her own healthy and organic nut and seed butters back in 2007, after searching for a healthier peanut butter alternative for her kids and not finding any among the big commercial brands. (You can read her story here.) Fast forward to today, Katie’s small company has grown to make an impressive lineup of all-organic peanut, almond, pumpkin and sunflower seed butters in various flavors, from plain to decadent – Mocha Almond Butter, Chocolate Cherry Peanut Butter, White Chocolate … Read the rest of the post

New Giveaway: Win a Copy of Mark Sutton’s ‘Heart Healthy Pizza Cookbook: Over 100 Plant-Based Recipes for the Most Nutritious Pizza in the World’, Autographed by the Author!

I’m excited to announce yet another giveaway today on Vegan Runner Eats – this time, the winner will get an autographed copy of ‘Heart Healthy Pizza Cookbook: Over 100 Plant-Based Recipes for the Most Nutritious Pizza in the World’ by Mark Sutton. A few weeks ago just after we moved to Washington state, I received a copy of this cookbook from Mark, and immediately started binge-reading it. You may remember from this post that we ran into trouble with getting our worldly possessions transported to us – it took almost a month for them to cross the country, which made me miss my kitchen supplies like never before and left me unable to cook anything more complicated than a veggie burrito. As I was waiting for my kitchen stuff to arrive, I got plenty of time to familiarize myself with Mark’s pizza cookbook and pick a few recipes to make … Read the rest of the post

New Giveaway! Win $50 Online Store Credit from InsolesAndBeyond.com

Hi everyone! I’ve got another exciting giveaway for you starting today. Hint: the runner audience will especially appreciate this one! As you may remember, I’ve mentioned in my previous posts that I’ve been experiencing a nagging foot pain that had been following me since before I ran my marathon in November. It took me a few months of brushing off the issue before I finally made an appointment to see a doctor. As it turned out, the pain in my heel was a classic case of plantar fasciitis – the inflammation of a thick fibrous band of connective tissue that is attached to the heel bone and supports the arch of the foot (see the picture to the right). Plantar fasciitis is quite common among runners, especially those like me who primarily land on the forefoot during running. While my foot issue hasn’t been getting worse, it certainly hasn’t been getting … Read the rest of the post

An Update About Our Move, Plus a New Giveaway Starting Today!

The last couple weeks have been quite hectic: if you remember this post, Rob and I are moving to Seattle area very soon for his new job, so there has been a lot of planning, talking to moving companies, figuring out how to ship our cars, and of course, packing! Just as everything was booked, including the moving company, plane tickets, car shipping, etc., we received an important message that we had waited for almost 2 years (it has to do with me being an immigrant) – a message that basically made it necessary for us to be in New Orleans, LA on the day Rob had been scheduled to start his new job in Freeland, WA. After the initial shock, we got everything under control, so instead of heading off to WA on March 31st and then flying back to New Orleans on April 7th, we have postponed our move by … Read the rest of the post
