As you may remember, I’ve mentioned in my previous posts that I’ve been experiencing a nagging foot pain that had been following me since before I ran my marathon in November. It took me a few months of brushing off the issue before I finally made an appointment to see a doctor. As it turned out, the pain in my heel was a classic case of plantar fasciitis – the inflammation of a thick fibrous band of connective tissue that is attached to the heel bone and supports the arch of the foot (see the picture to the right). Plantar fasciitis is quite common among runners, especially those like me who primarily land on the forefoot during running.
